National Poetry Day at Trowbridge Town Hall was a lively and enjoyable day and I’ve written about it here. I’m delighted to say that the Trowbridge Town Hall Poets Poetry Society Stanza group met again on October 10th. We looked at and discussed Simon Armitage’s tips for editing poems before reading and commenting on some of our own work in progress. This was the first time the group had done this so it was as much an exercise in trying to get the formula right, as anything else. I think that, next time, we should allow at least ten minutes per poem, even if that means that fewer people receive comments. There were some valuable comments from members and this was the first opportunity the group had had to discover each other’s work. Our next meeting will be on Monday, 14th November 6 – 8pm at the Town Hall.

My first set of weekly poetry classes are coming to a close. I’ve really enjoyed teaching them. Bookings are now open for the next set which start on Tuesday, 8th November. Details at Trowbridge Arts.
