Hello, I’m Josephine Corcoran, a writer, poet and workshop leader, and I’ve set up a new Poetry Society Stanza in Trowbridge at the old Town Hall.  Our first meeting will be on Monday, 12th September, 6 – 8pm. The Town Hall is the home of Trowbridge Arts. Its address and contact details are
Trowbridge Town Hall, Market Street, Trowbridge BA14 8EQ

Stanzas are poetry groups run voluntarily by Poetry Society members.  As explained on the Poetry Society’s website, stanzas meet to

..give feedback on each other’s ‘poems in progress’, set up a reading group, or run impromptu open mic sessions – whatever you want to do! You may even just want an excuse to have a poetic chat over a pint.

You do not need to be a member of the Poetry Society in order to attend.  The group is open to anyone with an interest in poetry. The first Trowbridge session will mostly be about getting to know one another. I’ll provide light refreshments. Please bring a favourite poem (not one of your own!) to share with the group and six copies of a poem (one page only – one of your own) you’d like feedback on. You could also bring a copy of the most recent Poetry Review to join in a conversation about which poems stood out for you. Or bring a copy of any poetry magazine or poetry book you’ve read recently and would like to talk about. Don’t worry if you can’t bring any of these things, you’ll still be very welcome and you’ll still be able to join in with the group. That should give us plenty to do in our the first session!

I look forward to meeting you. No need to book, just come along on the night.
